What is Scheduled Auto Maintenance?

What is Scheduled Auto Maintenance?Every single vehicle produced will require some sort of maintenance throughout its life in order to remain roadworthy. The services it will need vary based on its type of engine and other components, but let it be stated, it will need maintenance. Without the necessary maintenance being completed, a schedule of which can be found inside the owner's manual, the vehicle will soon begin to suffer from a diverse array of problems. It is crucial that you follow your vehicle's maintenance schedule if you want it to take you hundreds of thousands of miles. The following are some of the most common forms of scheduled auto maintenance.

30/60/90K Maintenance

At 30/60/90K appointments vehicles are subject to a wide array of inspections. These service, referred to as such because they are generally conducted every 30,000 miles, include checking safety features, ensuring the electronic system is properly working and conducting a multi-point inspection of the mechanical system to ensure all is well.

Oil Changes

The most common form of auto maintenance is the oil change, generally completed every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Oil changes ensure that the engine is properly lubricated to prevent harsh metal on metal contact between the motor's moving parts.

Tune Up Services

There are a variety of maintenance services that are completed when vehicles just don't seem to be running right or are suffering from decreased fuel economy. This includes changing the air filter replacing spark plugs and spark plug wires, installing a new fuel filter, conducting fuel injector cleaning and more. Ask your mechanic what tune up services your car could benefit from.

Timing Belt Replacement

The timing belt is very important to replace on time to ensure that it does not break. If the timing belt were to break it could result in very expensive damage to the engine, requiring extensive repair or engine replacement.

Fluid Flush

Your vehicle uses a variety of fluids to operate its various systems. On occasion they need to be drained and refilled to ensure they are not contaminated. This includes power steering fluid, automatic transmission fluid, brake fluid, engine coolant and differential fluid. Check your owner's manual to see how often your vehicle requires these services.
